Saints place RB Ingram, LB Herring on IR

The New Orleans Saints have placed running back Mark Ingram and linebacker Will Herring on injured reserve.

Ingram, who missed the final four games of the regular season, had been dealing with a nagging toe injury.

The rookie out of Alabama carried the ball 122 times for 474 yards and five touchdowns in 10 games for the Saints this season.

Herring had nine tackles and one interception in 11 games this year.

The Saints also signed offensive lineman Eric Olsen off the Washington Redskins' practice squad and promoted linebacker Nate Bussey to the active roster.

The NFC South-champion Saints are the third seed and will welcome the Lions to town on Saturday in the first round of the playoffs.
