Song in cruise control at LPGA Q School

Daytona Beach, FL – Christine Song managed just an even-par 72 Saturday, but still has a comfortable lead after four rounds of the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament.

Song, who has a four-shot lead at 10-under 278, had her LPGA Tour card in 2011 after winning twice in 2010 on the Symetra Futures Tour. Unless she struggles mightily in the final round, she will keep her card for 2012.

Following Sunday's final round, low 40 and ties will earn LPGA Tour membership for next season with the top 20 getting full status. The remaining players who made the cut will earn some type of status on the Futures Tour.

The top 70 and ties -- 76 players in all -- made the cut and will play the final round on the Champions Course at LPGA International.

For the first four rounds, players rotated over the Champions and Legends Courses.

While Song played the fourth round on the Champions Course, Junthima Gulyanamitta moved into second place with a four-under 68 on the Legends Course. She finished 72 holes at six-under 282.

Jennie Lee carded a one-over 73 and dropped into third place at minus-four. Jodi Ewart posted a two-under 70 and is the final player in red figures at one-under 287. Lee and Ewart both played the Legends Course on Saturday.

Song, who led after each of the first three rounds, opened with five straight pars on the Legends Course. She tripped to a bogey on the sixth, but came right back with a birdie on No. 7.

Around the turn, Song bogeyed the 10th but atoned for that mistake with a birdie at the 12th. Song's lead was cut to three when she bogeyed the par-four 17th. She again got that stroke right back with a birdie at the last to end four clear.

"I wasn't hitting it very well, but fortunately, my chipping and putting were good. We will play the Champions Course tomorrow and I like that course better because it's more wide open," Song said. "I need to go low."

Gulyanamitta was even-par through nine holes with a birdie on the first and a bogey on the fifth. She started to make a move with birdies at 11 and 13.

After a bogey on the 14th, Gulyanamitta poured in three consecutive birdie chances to close out her round and get within four of Song.

Among those that made the cut, but are outside the top 40 and ties heading to the final round, are former U.S. Women's Open champion Birdie Kim, Nicole Jeray and Leah Wigger.

NOTES: Ayaka Kaneko fired a five-under 67 to soar from a share of 78th into a tie for 19th...The cut line fell at 12-over 300 with Jimin Jeong, Allison Hanna, Briana Vega, Jean Bartholomew and former U.S. Amateur champion Kimberly Kim failing to make the final round.
