Another weekend another set of crazy games. This is week 11 of the NFL season.
Giants Can’t Beat the Eagles “D”
The Philadelphia Eagles can’t seem to be consistent this year, either they win big or lose close ones. This time they won but it wasn’t a blowout.
Juan Castillo’s defense wouldn’t let QB Eli Manning and the division leading New York Giants find their rhythm and a key sack/strip by defensive lineman Jason Babin with under two minutes to go wouldn’t allow Eli to work his magic. The Eagles recovered and won 17-10.
This Giants loss is Dallas’ gain as they are tied in the standings at 6-4. The Eagles move to 4-6.
Giants WR Victor Cruz caught a touchdown pass. He had six catches for 128 yards.
Ron Rivera’s Panthers lose again
What a crazy first year for head coach Ron Rivera. His Carolina Panthers are on the cusp of being an awesome football team with potential to become the most explosive team in the NFC South.
The only thing holding them back? Experience and team chemistry which can only be fixed by time for the most part.
Panthers QB Cam Newton was 22/38 with one touchdown pass and 2 rushing scores but he threw for 4 interceptions.
Even with the lead the majority of the game the Detroit Lions came back to win 49-35 with five touchdowns in the second half.
Detroit is 7-3 and the Panthers drop to 2-8.
Cowboy’s Up, Redskins Down
The Dallas Cowboys continue to have the most uneven seasons in their franchise history.
Believe me - expect anything when the Cowboys’ play the Washington Redskins, records don’t matter it’s all about rivalry.
I understand how serious this rivalry is so when the Cowboys squeaked out a win earlier this year 18-16, I was sure the Skins would come back looking for revenge.
Well they almost had it. The Cowboys trailed 14-10 at the half then took the lead in the 4th before a Rex Grossman TD pass in the final minutes sent the game into Overtime.
The Redskins won the toss and moved into field goal position before an act of God or just bad kicking caused the ball to go WIDE RIGHT.
QB Tony Romo proceeded to then march his team into field goal range and lead the Cowboys to a 27-24 OT victory sweeping the Redskins for the season.
Romo was solid with 3 touchdown passes and 292 yards in the air. The Boys are 6-4. Washington is 3-7.
49ers Dismantle the Cards
This week however he met the San Francisco 49ers a team that proved they deserved to be considered the top team in the NFL. The 49ers are 9-1.
Skelton had 3 interception, a fumble and only 99 yards to show in passing. He was relieved at the end of the game.
The final score 23-7 (Arizona scored their only TD in the 4th quarter).
Tony Gonzalez TD of the Week
Once again Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez caught a touchdown pass from QB Matt Ryan.
He had five catches for 74 yards. More points added to a Hall of Fame career.
According to ESPNNewYork.com, former Giants WR Amani Toomer told a New York radio station this week that he would choose Tebow over Sanchez saying he had more of an “upside” than Sanchez. Ouch!
