Poll says half of Democratic voters support Clinton

A new poll says Hillary Clinton now has the support of 50 percent of Democratic voters, now that Vice President Joe Biden has decided against running, and with Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee out of the race.

The former secretary of state has reinforced her prominent lead, and is now 20 points ahead of second-place candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, according to a poll conducted by NBC News. Former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley and Harvard Professor Larry Lessig each garnered less than 1 percent support.

Her high poll numbers follow two weeks of momentum for Clinton on the campaign trail, which included the first Democratic debate and her testimony in front of the House Select Committee on Benghazi. She hasn't received such high poll numbers since April of this year, and had her lowest polling in June at just 41 percent.
