Dutch prosecutors say that a man with a conviction for attempting to travel to Syria was briefly detained last week at a military air base where he was working in a construction team.

Broadcaster RTL News reported Wednesday that the man was convicted in 2015 of attempting to join Islamic State group in Syria. RTL reported that he was detained after he was seen taking photos at the air base.

In a written statement, prosecutors say that the man, whose identity was not released, was detained after his previous conviction was discovered but released without charge two days later.

Prosecution spokeswoman Elianne Mastwijk said that "there is no evidence at all to indicate that the man wanted to commit a crime or committed a crime."
