South African police say they have arrested a third suspect in connection with the death of a British tourist honeymooning in Cape Town with her husband a week ago.

Police spokesman Captain Frederick van Wyk said police arrested a 31-year-old Cape Town man Saturday afternoon, following arrests of two 26-year-old men earlier this week. Van Wyk says the suspect faces hijacking and murder charges.

Gunmen forced Shrien Dewani and the driver from their vehicle. Anni Dewani's body was found the next morning. Police say she was shot in the back of the neck and had not been sexually assaulted.

The couple had been married for two weeks.

Police vowed a crackdown on crime in Cape Town townships, known for high rates of murder, rape and other violent crime.
