Chiefs plan on putting Chris Conley to work against the Titans

Chris Conley dipped his toe in the NFL waters last weekend in his preseason debut.

Now, head coach Andy Reid wants to push the rookie wide receiver into the deep end to see if he can swim.

The Georgia product is in line to play major minutes against the Tennessee Titans on Friday, according to ESPN's Adam Teicher.

"His play will increase this week," offensive coordinator Doug Pederson told Teicher. "He's a guy that's in the mix. We've got to have a lot of reps on tape to evaluate him properly and see where he fits into out scheme.''

Conley figures to receive even more snaps than his team-leading 33 from last weekend. That signals the Chiefs are fully confident his knee is no longer a problem.

It could also signal he's still in the race for a major role in his first NFL campaign. The rookie should welcome Pederson's challenge.
