Martinsville, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Persistent rain at Martinsville Speedway forced the postponement of Saturday's Kroger 250 Camping World Truck Series race.
The 250-lap truck event at this 0.526-mile short track has been rescheduled for Sunday at approximately 5:30 p.m. ET, immediately following the 500-lap Sprint Cup Series race here.
The truck event had been scheduled for 2:30 p.m. local time. NASCAR officials made the decision at around 4:15 p.m. to postpone it until the following day.
Rain interfered with all of the day's track activities at Martinsville. Qualifying for trucks as well as the two practice sessions for Sprint Cup were canceled.
Darrell Wallace Jr. will start on the pole. Wallace, who won his first career Truck Series race last October at Martinsville, was awarded the pole for being the fastest overall in Friday's practice. Ryan Blaney will start second, followed by Timothy Peters, Erik Jones and Ron Hornaday Jr.
Travis Kvapil is the only driver who is scheduled to compete in both NASCAR races at Martinsville on Sunday.
The green flag for the Sprint Cup race here is scheduled to drop at 1:13 p.m. ET. It generally takes 3 to 3 1/2 hours to complete that event.
According to the National Weather Service, the forecast for the Martinsville area on Sunday afternoon calls for partly sunny skies with wind gusts as high as 38 mph. There is a 40 percent chance of rain in the forecast for the area during the morning.
