Atletico agrees to a deal for Barca's Villa

Atletico Madrid have reached a deal on Monday to sign Spanish striker David Villa from Barcelona.

The two clubs have agreed to a pact believed to be worth 5.1 million Euros, while Barcelona is set to receive 50 percent of any future sale of the player.

Villa joined the Catalans in 2010 from fellow La Liga side Valencia and has scored 48 goals in 119 appearances across all competitions.

But with the arrival of Neymar at the Nou Camp, Villa had likely lost his place in the team.

Villa will move to Atletico for an initial 2.1 million Euros, with an extra two million due if he stays at the club in the 2014-15 season, while they will pay another million if extends his tenure for a third season.

Villa began his career at Sporting Gijon before a move to Real Zaragoza in 2003, where his performances convinced then Valencia manager Quique Sanchez Flores to take him to the Estadio Mestalla.

The 31-year-old made the move to Barcelona in a 40 million Euro deal, winning La Liga and Champions League medals in his debut season for the Catalans.
