Benfica preserved its unbeaten record in league play on Sunday by claiming a 2-0 victory over Olhanense at the Estadio Jose Arcanjo.

After a scoreless opening period, the visitors broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute thanks to Eduardo Salvio. Nemanja Matic scored 12 minutes later to put the winning result beyond any doubt.

Benfica has dropped points just four times this season, winning 21 of its 25 league matches to improve to 67 points on the season.

Olhanense has dropped two of its last three league games to remain on 21 points for the season, leaving the club third from bottom in the table.

Elsewhere in Portugal's top flight on Sunday, Guimaraes claimed a 2-1 victory over Beira Mar thanks to El Arbi Hillel Soudani's second-half goal, Gil Vicente escaped with a 2-1 win over Academica thanks to Bruno China's own goal in the 68th minute, Rio Ave earned a 2-1 defeat of Vitoria Setubal behind goals from Ahmed Hassan Mahgoub and Bruno Manuel Araujo Braga, and Estoril cruised to a 4-0 thumping of Nacional as Carlos Eduardo led the way with a brace.

On Saturday, Sporting Lisbon received goals from three different sources in the club's dramatic 3-2 defeat of Moreirense. Sporting's Diego Capel and Ricky van Wolfswinkel exchanged goals with Moreirense's Nabil Ghilas and Anibal, but it was Valentin Viola's goal in the third minute of stoppage time that swayed the result in Sporting's favor.

On Friday, Maritimo played to a 1-1 draw with Pacos Ferreira, while Monday's action saw FC Porto claim a 3-1 win over Braga as Kelvin netted two goals in the final seven minutes.
