Brittney Sykes' 50-footer at the buzzer lifted Syracuse to a 60-57 victory over St. John's on Wednesday.

With 2.8 seconds left and the score tied at 57, Sykes stole the inbounds pass from the sideline and banked in the shot from just over half court for the victory.

Sykes, a freshman, led the Orange (16-2, 4-1 Big East) with 16 points. Kayla Alexander added 14 points moving her within two of the school's all-time scoring record held by Nicole Michael.

St. John's led 57-53 with 1:43 left, but Alexander hit four free throws over the next minute to tie the game. The Red Storm had two chances to take the lead in the final 30 seconds before the incredible finish.

Shenneika Smith scored 21 points to lead St. John's (9-8, 3-2), which has now lost three games on its final possession this season.
