Mathieu Perreault, who took on a larger role with the Washington Capitals last season and registered 7 goals and 14 points in 35 games, agreed to a new one-year contract with the team Wednesday. Terms were not disclosed.

The 23-year-old has compiled 11 goals and 23 points in 56 career games with Washington, which selected him in the sixth round of the 2006 Entry Draft.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound native of Drummondville, Quebec, also recorded 11 goals and 35 points last season with the Capitals' AHL affiliate in Hershey, finishing seventh on the team in scoring despite playing in only 34 games. Perreault added 3 goals and 6 points in six playoff games.
