White House spokesman Jay Carney says U.S. aid to Pakistan is always under review and cautioned Pakistan to address possible links between its government and militants from Afghanistan.

Carney says his remarks about assistance to Pakistan aren't a new warning but a reiteration of the Obama administration's position. Carney made his remarks to reporters on Air Force One as President Barack Obama flew to Denver.

Following attacks in Kabul, the Afghan capital, that targeted Americans in the past two weeks, U.S. officials have ramped up their public comments alleging the Pakistani government backs the Haqqani network, an affiliate of the Taliban that is believed to be behind the assaults.

Pakistani officials have vigorously denied the claim, creating new strains with the U.S.
