Europol says 112 people have been arrested in connection with a major investigation into child pornography that stretched across 22 European countries.

The European police coordination agency says there are 269 suspects in all in the investigation, which was carried out under the leadership of Danish police. Nineteen men aged 24 to 55 years old are facing preliminary charges in Denmark.

Denmark's chief of national police, Jens Henrik Hoejbjerg, said 59 computers and 2,430 storage devices had been seized, corresponding with 9,000 hours of video images. A single suspect in Denmark had 29 terabytes of data.

"It's a huge amount for our investigators to handle," said Hoejbjerg.

Europol has its headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands.
