The body of the 9-year-old autistic boy who slipped out a side door of former NBA player Marcus Camby’s home in Texas on Thanksgiving was recovered from a pond on the property.

Pearland police said that the body of Marcus McGee was found Saturday morning. There were no signs of foul play. Camby is the boy’s uncle.

Marcus had been visiting from Connecticut for a family Thanksgiving gathering, Fox 26 Houston reported.

According to the station, police said Marcus, who had autism and was nonverbal, was last seen by family around 4 p.m. Thursday.

Security video showed the boy exiting the side of the home, the station reported.

Police reported the discovery of the boy’s body on Facebook.

“This is the worst possible news a family can get. Their family is together. They're devastated. Right now, I think, more than anything they need our prayers,” Police Lt. Onesimo Lopez told KTRK-TV.

Hundreds of people from the Pearland community joined authorities to search for the boy.

A candlelight vigil for the boy Saturday night at a ballfield drew just as many people.

“As a mother, I am heartbroken about it,” Tonya Parker told KHOU-TV. “It seemed like we searched all day until nightfall and we couldn’t find him.”
