Authorities say two men have been accused of killing a Syracuse University student from China during a drug deal robbery in upstate New York.

Onondaga County Sheriff Gene Conway says 23-year-old Cameron Isaac and 20-year-old Ninimbe Mitchell are charged with murder, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the shooting of Yuan Xiaopeng (YOO'-en SHE'-ow-puhng).

Conway didn't release details of the encounter, but said drugs were found in Yuan's car.

The 23-year-old was a junior studying mathematics when he was found shot to death on Sept. 30 at an apartment complex in suburban DeWitt. He was from Qingdao (cheeng-DOW') on China's east coast and had been in Syracuse since 2011.

Isaac and Mitchell are being held without bail. It wasn't initially known if they have lawyers.
