Investigators in Texas said Wednesday they took a 14-year-old boy into custody for questioning after they found his grandparents shot to death in the couple's home.

A deputy found the bodies of the husband and wife, both in their 70s, Tuesday afternoon in Beach City after the boy failed to show up for school, Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said.
Educators reached the teen by phone at the home in a truancy check. Hawthorne said the boy told an administrator someone might be injured at the home.
The sheriff said both victims appeared to have been shot with a handgun. There were no signs of forced entry or robbery, according to Hawthorne.
The couple's bodies turned up in the home's back bedroom, Fox 26 reported. The sheriff would not release the couple's names.
Beach City is 30 miles east of Houston and near Trinity Bay, off the Gulf of Mexico.
