Bond was set $2 million Tuesday for a man in Ohio accused of killing his 4-month-old daughter and then trying cover it up by reporting her abducted.

Charles Crawford, 25, is held at the Clermont County Jail on an aggravated murder charge.

In a brief court appearance Tuesday, a prosecutor said he admitted to dropping the infant in the Little Miami River.

Clermont County Magistrate Anita Bechmann ordered him not to have contact with anyone under the age of 18 should he be able to post bond.

Crawford appeared calm in court, was not emotional and said little.

On Sunday, he told Loveland police an unknown person abducted Kaylynn Crawford from the backseat of his car outside the Dollar General on Loveland-Madeira Road, according to an incident report.

He called 911 about 9 p.m., setting off a search that lasted several hours into Monday afternoon, when search crews converged on an area near the river.

Authorities issued a Statewide Endangered Missing Child Advisory, saying Crawford was believed to be in danger.

The girl’s remains and her car seat were located around 4 p.m near the riverbank.

During the investigation, Crawford gave statements to law enforcement indicating "his direct involvement in the death" of his daughter, authorities wrote in an affidavit filed with Clermont County Municipal Court.

He led officers directly to where her body was located along the Little Miami River near the Kelley Nature Preserve.
