Police have arrested a suspect following a fatal stabbing inside an upstate New York supermarket.

New Windsor Town Police Sgt. Stephen Sager said in a release that 35-year-old Andrew Goodenough was arrested inside a ShopRite supermarket on Saturday morning.

He is facing a second-degree murder charge. The name of an attorney to comment was not immediately available.

Police say they found a 35-year-old man stabbed and unconscious inside the store at about 9:40 a.m. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police did not immediately release the victim's name, pending notification of kin.

Goodenough was arrested about an hour later. Police are investigating a motive.

ShopRite hasn't immediately responded to a comment request.

New Windsor is about 65 miles north of New York City.
