A San Diego man was arrested Saturday for allegedly slashing his young son's forearms at a cemetery after "voices in his head" instructed him to sacrifice the boy.
Joseph Ramirez, 30, took three of his children to the Mount Hope Cemetery about 4:30 p.m. local time where he used a knife to slice his 8-year-old's forearms before cutting his own, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
"We're going to Jesus, we're going to Jesus," the dad was overheard saying by witness Jaymisha Pires.
Pires, a 21-year-old mother of two, said she confronted Ramirez and begged him to stop.
When Ramirez ran off, Pires' friend, Corey Granberry, pulled the children together. The 8-year-old child was bleeding badly and Granberry wrapped a T-shirt around one of his arms.
According to the Union-Tribune, Ramirez had heard his dead grandmother's voice telling him to sacrifice his son.
