HOUSTON (AP) Jalan McCloud sank six 3-pointers and scored 25 points, both career highs, to propel Texas Southern to a 92-61 win over Mississippi Valley State on Monday night.

Demontrae Jefferson added 17 points for Texas Southern (16-11, 12-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference), Stephan Bennet scored 15 and Zach Lofton had 14 with seven assists. The Tigers shot 53 percent from the field, including 10 for 20 from long range, to remain atop the conference standings - a half-game ahead of Alcorn State.

Texas Southern needed an 8-2 burst at the end of the first half to edge back on top and take a 36-35 advantage into the break. McCloud drained a 3 to open the final period, sparking a 10-3 run, and the Tigers continued to pull away, outscoring MVSU 56-26 over the last 20 minutes.

Marcus Romain led MVSU (4-24, 4-11) with 21 points, Rashaan Surles added 17 and Jamal Watson grabbed 12 rebounds.
