John Henry, Tom Werner miss retired slugger David Ortiz

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) Boston Red Sox principal owner John Henry called it strange not to see David Ortiz at the team's first full-squad workout this year.

Entering their 16th season of ownership, Henry and chairman Tom Werner spent 25 minutes Friday discussing Ortiz's future role, the offseason acquisition of pitcher Chris Sale, the future of Fenway Park, pace of play, shortening the times of video reviews.

Henry says of Ortiz: ''We miss him at our level.''
