The Knicks got to signing Thursday. First, they brought in former Michigan State guard Travis Trice. Then, they made an announcement of their own, bringing in two more young talents.

From the team's website:

Atkins averaged 7.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game at University of Virginia this past season. He played for the Spurs at Las Vegas Summer League. That's a good sign, right? It always seems to be somewhat reassuring when you like someone who the Spurs also, at one point, liked too. Phil Jackson preaches constantly about bringing in defense, and Atkins is certainly someone who fits that bill. He won Defensive Player of the Year last season at Virginia.

Saunders is a Harvard man who averaged 12.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists during his collegiate career. Remember what happened the last time the Knicks employed a Harvard alum? Good things. Very good things. The only problem here is that you can't easily create puns on the word "insanity" with the name Saunders.
