The Silver and Black have never been a conventionally-operated franchise.
Still, debuting a state-of-the art training facility in wake of relocation talks might take the cake for Raiders weirdness.
On Wednesday, the team unveiled its new $8 million performance center at its Alameda, Calif. headquarters. It featured brand new practice fields and a new workout room that is four times as large as the previous one.
"When you see it for the first time, especially coming from the old weight room, it's jaw-dropping," long snapper Jon Condo told the Orange County Register. "It's definitely top of the art and one of the better weight rooms, I'd have to say, in the NFL."
It's a pity that the team might waste such a top-of-the-line remodel. The Raiders are still exploring relocation options that could push them to Los Angeles in a few short years.
It would render the current facility obsolete -- unless the team picked it up and moved it down the coast or trained there during the week and played Sundays in Los Angeles.
Stranger things have happened. These are, after all, the Raiders.
