HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) New York Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson returned to practice after dealing with a sore hamstring the past few weeks, and hopes to play in the team's preseason game against the Giants on Saturday.

Wilkerson hasn't practiced much since tweaking his left hamstring on Aug. 2, and had a minor setback last week. He participated in some team drills Sunday, working with the backups during the Jets' annual practice at Hofstra University - the team's home until moving to New Jersey after training camp in 2008.

Coach Todd Bowles says Wilkerson was ''moving pretty good'' and, pending any setbacks this week, will play in the third preseason game.

Rookie linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin left practice with a knee injury. Bowles had no immediate word on the severity.
