ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) The Denver Broncos have been awarded punter Spencer Lanning off waivers from Tampa Bay.

The Broncos waived punter Karl Schmitz - who was subsequently signed by the Buccaneers - last week to make room for tackle Matt Hall, who elected to retire.

Lanning, who will compete with Britton Colquitt, is a third-year pro who appeared in 32 games for the Browns in the past two seasons, posting a 38.6-yard net punting average. He also kicked off 12 times for the Browns.

The Broncos are in a conundrum with their specialists.

They want to keep just two specialists with one also handling kickoffs. But Colquitt only punts and Connor Barth is accurate on field goals but struggles on kickoffs, the opposite of Brandon McManus.
