Jason Terry is a 16-year NBA veteran who was a regular rotation player for a very good Houston Rockets team last season.

Houston would like him back, but evidently, the team hasn't made a contract offer that was to his liking. The Pelicans, however, have stepped things up.

New Orleans has made an offer to Terry, according to Mark Berman of MyFoxHouston. The terms of the Pelicans' offer have not been made public, but it's presumably more than the one Terry has received to remain with the Rockets.

Alvin Gentry takes over as head coach in New Orleans for the upcoming season, and he's an experienced leader who players tend to respect. He's also the type who likes to have a veteran voice in the locker room who will confirm his message, and Terry could do exactly that.

Terry averaged seven points in 21.3 minutes per contest for the Rockets last season, while appearing in 77 games, 18 as a starter.
