Back in May, Kevin Durant posted a photo of a large new tattoo that appeared to contain a misspelled word.

Fortunately for the three-time scoring champion, the misspelling turned out to just be an illusion, a fact Durant clarified in a subsequent post showing the word -- "mature," in this case -- spelled correctly.

I remind you of this story because Larry Sanders will have no such redemptive moment after he took to Instagram Sunday to show off his new ink -- which featured the word "receive" unquestionably spelled incorrectly along his left hand:

Now, we're all guilty of a misspelling or a typo here and there. The Hoover (Ala.) High School cheerleaders provided us an amusing one earlier this week. But at least theirs -- and most such errors -- didn't end up permanently penned on their bodies.

That said, it's not all bad news for Sanders. Tattoo fail or not, he signed a four-year, $44 million extension with the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday. Not bad for a guy who never fully grasped "I before E, except after C."
