The San Francisco Giants agreed to a minor league contract with recently released outfielder Jeff Francoeur.

Francoeur was designated for assignment on June 30 after batting .208 with three home runs and 13 RBI in 59 games this season for the Royals.

The 29-year-old has a career average of .264 with 140 homers and 614 RBI over nine seasons with Kansas City, Texas, the New York Mets and Atlanta.

The Giants made several other moves Tuesday. They placed catcher Hector Sanchez on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder strain, recalled pitcher Mike Kickham from Triple-A Fresno, purchased the contract of infielder Kensuke Tanaka from Fresno and designated outfielder Cole Gillespie for assignment.
