The Los Angeles Lakers took versatile Duke big man Ryan Kelly with their only pick on Thursday.
He returned from injury for the Blue Devils this season and was outstanding at times. Kelly can shoot and handle for a big guy, but he's not projected as a serious NBA contributor.
Kelly will probably make the Lakers roster, but will he see serious minutes? That would depend on what the Lakers do in the offseason. Could he do better than expected playing under Mike D'Antoni's up-tempo system? Probably, but that doesn't make him an exciting prospect.
