Dortmund, Germany – Robert Lewandowski's brace inside the opening 21 minutes at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday was enough to see Borussia Dortmund claim all three points as the club defeated Hannover, 3-1.
The Poland international opened the scoring in the eighth minute before extending Dortmund's lead in the 21st with his 15th Bundesliga goal of the campaign.
Mohammed Abdellaoue cut the deficit in half before the break as Mohammed Abdellaoue scored in the 40th minute, but Dortmund restored its two-goal advantage in the 72nd minute through Julian Schieber.
Dortmund retains second place by improving to 46 points on the season, but the club remains well off the pace set by Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga leaders can restore the 17-point gap on Sunday with a win over Hoffenheim.
Hannover's three-game unbeaten run comes to an end as the club stays put on 33 points.
Schalke 4, Wolfsburg 1
Wolfsburg, Germany - Schalke scored three goals in the final 27 minutes to come away from the Volkswagen Arena with a 4-1 win over Wolfsburg on Saturday.
Julian Draxler put the visitors in front in the 33rd minute before Wolfsburg get on level terms five minutes after the restart.
But the final half-hour belonged to Schalke as goals from Draxler, Jefferson Farfan and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar put the result beyond any doubt.
With two straight Bundesliga wins, Schalke moves up to sixth place with 36 points on the season. Wolfsburg has managed just one point from its last three league games to remain one spot clear of the relegation zone with 27 points.
Hamburg 1, Greuther Furth 1
Hamburg, Germany - Hamburg and Greuther Furth scored seven minutes apart to split the points in a 1-1 draw at the Imtech Arena on Saturday.
Nikola Djurdjic put visiting Greuther Furth in front with the opening goal in the 14th minute, but Maximilian Beister answered shortly after to see the home come away with a share of the spoils.
Hamburg improves to 35 points while Greuther Furth remains bottom of the league on 14 points.
Nurnberg 1, Freiburg 1
Nurnberg, Germany - Nurnberg and Freiburg scored on opposite sides of halftime as the two Bundesliga clubs played to a 1-1 draw at the Frankenstadion on Saturday.
The home side thought that Timmy Simons' penalty in the 33rd minute would be enough to claim all three points, but Jonathan Schmid equalized for Freiburg seven minutes from time.
Nurnberg has drawn four Bundesliga matches in a row to climb to 28 points on the season. Freiburg, unbeaten in its last four Bundesliga contests, occupies fifth place on 36 points.
Augsburg 1, Werder Bremen 0
Bremen, Germany - Augsburg picked up a 1-0 win at Werder Bremen on Saturday behind Tobias Werner's first-half strike.
Werner's goal in the 29th minute sees Augsburg inch closer to a spot in the Bundesliga next season as the club moves six points away from safety.
Bremen's three straight league losses leave the club stranded on 28 points, slipping closer to a battle against relegation.
Bayern Leverkusen 2, Stuttgart 1
Leverkusen, Germany - Bayern Leverkusen produced two goals in the final eight minutes to earn a dramatic 2-1 win over Stuttgart at the BayArena on Saturday.
Vedad Ibisevic converted a penalty kick in the 12th minute to give visiting Stuttgart the lead, which it held until the dying minutes when Stefan Kiessling turned in a penalty of his own in the 82nd minute.
The comeback was complete four minutes later as Lars Bender struck to lift Leverkusen to 45 points on the season.
Stuttgart remains on 29 points.
