Travion Leonard made a go-ahead free throw with 38 seconds left to lift Fordham to a 66-63 win over Rhode Island on Saturday.

The score was close through much of the contest. Rhode Island took a 63-62 lead when T.J. Buchanan knocked down a 3-pointer with 1:45 left in the game.

Fordham's Branden Frazier made a free throw to tie the game at 63-all with a minute remaining. Leonard then put Fordham (6-14, 2-3 Atlantic 10 Conference) ahead for good with his free throw.

Frazier, who led Fordham with 20 points, made two more free throws to seal the game.

Mandell Thomas finished with 17 points and seven rebounds for Fordham. Leonard scored 13 points and Ryan Rhoomes grabbed 11 rebounds — four offensive.

Mike Powell scored 14 points for Rhode Island (6-12, 1-4), which has lost four of its last five games. Andre Malone had 12 points.
