Campbell University's search for a new football coach has begun while the fired Dale Steele completes the 2012 season.

Steele has led Campbell since the program was relaunched in 2008 following a 50-year absence, but the Camels are only 14-39 in his five seasons, including 1-8 this year. The university announced Monday that he would be fired at the end of the season.

He will coach Campbell's final two games against Jacksonville and Marist. The Camels are in last place in the FCS non-scholarship Pioneer Football League.

"We as coaches know that change is inevitable," Steele said. "Each team every year is a new beginning. We are measured by results as coaches and this year has been difficult in the growth of our program."
