Portland State's football team will travel to the University of Washington and play five home games as part of a 2012 schedule announced Tuesday.

The Vikings will face a Pac-12 school for the eighth time since 2005 when they go to Washington on Sept. 15 to take on the Huskies.

They will open their season at home Sept. 1 against NAIA member Carroll College and play their other non-conference game at North Dakota on Sept. 8.

Although North Dakota is joining the Big Sky Conference this year as the conference expands to 13 teams, the game will not count toward the conference standings.

Portland State's eight conference games will be at home against Southern Utah (Sept. 22), Idaho State (Oct. 6), Northern Colorado (Nov. 3) and Eastern Washington (Nov. 17), and on the road against Northern Arizona (Sept. 29), Cal Poly (Oct. 20), UC Davis (Oct. 27) and Montana State (Nov. 10).

The Vikings won't play conference rivals Montana, Sacramento State and Weber State.

Coach Nigel Burton's team is coming off a 7-4 season, including 5-3 in the Big Sky.
