Yuri Sucart has been spotted traveling with A-Rod on some road trips, even though he was banned by the Yankees from any team-related facility or function.
Rodriguez implicated his cousin during a 2009 press conference as the one who provided him and injected him with performance-enhancing drugs. This came after a Sports Illustrated article reported that he tested positive for a drug test in 2003.
A team source told the Daily News that Sucart was spotted at the team's hotel in San Francisco during their series with the Oakland A's. The source also told the paper that he was with Rodriguez this year on road trips and with him last season, too.
Major League Baseball says it is investigating this latest claim.
"All we can do is control his access to areas that [MLB] or the team control. We will stay in touch with the Yankees to make sure that prohibition is being respected. A hotel lobby is a public place, there is nothing we can do," Robb Manfred, the league's executive vice president of labor relations, told ESPN.
The Yankees have yet to comment.
Rodriguez is currently batting .292 with nine home runs and 31 RBI this year.
The three-time American League MVP currently ranks eighth all-time on the home run list with 622.
