    • Obamas Apology Tour Putting Freedom in Harms Way?

APPresident Obama, since the beginning of his presidency, has been on the international trail apologizing to various nations. Obama will start another leg of his "international confessions tour" with stops to Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Europe this coming week. Many, including former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, have been critical of Obama's tour. Romney stated to the American Heritage Foundation that Obama apologized on Arabic TV for America dictating other countries. Obama apologized to France, for the arrogance that America has shown towards European countries.

Romney expressed concerns as to how this tour will affect the United States appearance towards the international community. While Obama and Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs, feel that the White House has made the United States safer and transformed the image of America, Romney argues that in actuality we are no safer than we were, and we still need to protect and preserve freedom and stop threats that could ultimately damage our freedom. As quoted in his [Romney] speech, "We must resolutely sustain the capabilities we need to protect our security and sustain the cause of liberty." Those who desire world leadership threaten freedom, and countries will do what is necessary to harm the freedom that America holds in making it a powerful nation.

By apologizing to the international community, we are conceding that we were wrong and made horrible mistakes, making us vulnerable to future attacks. Romney argues that indeed "We have made mistakes, but those mistakes have been overwhelmed with what America has meant to the hopes and aspirations of people throughout the world." We are a sign of peace and hope because of the freedom we protect. Why should we be putting such an important American idea in harms way of destruction? Once this tour is over, will we been seen as weak nation? If so, how would this effect efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan? Ultimately, if we become a weaker nation and not as powerful as we are currently perceived our future efforts will be hampered and unsuccessful.
