Education in America needs to change. It's been 10 years since the No Child Left Behind Act was passed by Congress with broad bi-partisan support, but the problems with American schools are still being debated. Today, every hour of every school day, 857 kids drop out of high school. Change is long overdue.
"Fox News Reporting: Fixing Our Schools" is focused on new solutions. Juan Williams investigates and finds that 21st Century computer technology, innovative software and blended learning are being used at a small public charter school in Arizona, a suburban school district in North Carolina and in a big city school in New York. Both test scores and graduation rates have improved remarkably at each of these schools. In Florida, a low tech formula is challenging students and teachers to become top performers, and a steady increase in achievement is the result.
Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, CEO of News Corp.'s Amplify education division Joel Klein, educators, teachers and principals tell what they are doing to improve the system. They agree that in the American classroom it's no longer one size fits all. Customized learning is the key to fixing our schools.
