Mourners will pay their final respects to infamous ex-Toronto mayor Rob Ford whose funeral takes place on Wednesday.

Ford died last week at age 46 after fighting cancer. Ford's tenure as mayor of Canada's largest city was marred by revelations about his drinking problems and illegal drug use. As he sought a second term as mayor in 2014, Ford was diagnosed with a rare cancer just two months before the election date. It forced him to do what months of scandals could not — drop his bid for re-election.

A procession Wednesday morning will start from City Hall and end with a funeral at St. James Cathedral. After the noon service, Ford's family will leave for a private ceremony. A public celebration of Ford's life is planned for the evening.
