Mexican authorities say a reporter who was dragged from her home by armed assailants in Veracruz state has been found dead.

The government of Veracruz says in a statement that Anabel Flores Salazar's body was discovered Tuesday on a highway in the neighboring state of Puebla. The corpse was identified by family members.

Flores Salazar was a crime-beat reporter for a local newspaper in the Veracruz city of Orizaba. She was kidnapped at her home near the city before dawn Monday.

At least 15 journalists have been killed in Veracruz since Gov. Javier Duarte took office in 2010 and three more have disappeared.
