Authorities say a man has been killed in a building collapse caused by severe weather in eastern Iowa.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office says strong winds blew through the small community of Fairfax on Monday and caused extensive damage to a building that trapped a man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the building is owned by Intermec Technologies and the man was an employee. His name has not been released pending family notification.

There are no additional reports of injuries. Authorities have not released other information about the building or the damage. A message left for the company was not immediately returned Monday.

Severe weather affected much of the state Monday, causing damage to properties and reports of extensive flooding.
