A naked man was arrested after he assaulted two passengers while on board a D.C. Metro train during the Thursday morning commute. (FOX5)
The morning commute in the nation’s capital was upended on Thursday after a naked man attacked two passengers on a D.C. Metro train, officials said.
Metro Transit Police told FOX5 the man was taken into custody inside the Dupont Circle Metro Station after allegedly assaulting riders on the Red Line train.
A witnesses who recorded the incident told FOX5 he first spotted the naked man inside the Galley Place Metro Station located downtown, where the man first got on the train. The man then exited into another train car, where he was then recorded on video striking a passenger.
"I go to the back window, start recording, and he walks up to a guy and assaults him, starts punching him in the face," Phillip Banks told FOX5. "Then he jumps on the guy again, when the train stops the guy jumps off, the naked guy grabs his bag and everything."
Another witness told FOX5 the naked man exited the train at DuPont and then did "naked calisthenics" on the platform.
"Then he attempts to get back on the train we're on, but me and another guy wouldn't allow him to get back on the train because there were a bunch of elderly women on the train, so we weren't having that,” Banks said.

Police told FOX 5 the injuries to passengers are not believed to be serious, and an investigation is ongoing.
Officials told WUSA-TV the man may have been on some kind of drug at the time of the early-morning incident.
Erin Mountcastle of Silver Spring, Md., who takes the Red Line every day to work, told Fox News there's "always something shady" on the train.
"Every day it's something new with Metro," she said. "Rapes, assaults, fire, the train is late, the train hit a deer...I could go on. There's always something shady. Nothing surprises me anymore."
