UVALDE, Texas – Department of Safety records show that Jack D. Young was texting while driving when he crashed into the church bus that killed 13 people on March 29.
The report said that Young, 20, crossed the center marker on U.S. 83 and crashed into the bus that was carrying church members of First Baptist Church in New Braunfels who were returning from a retreat.
A witness, Jody Kuchler, says Young was driving erratically before the crash. He has not been charged.
