Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., vowed on “Fox News Sunday” that Judge Neil Gorsuch would be confirmed this week despite the possibility of not having the 60 votes needed to confirm him in the Senate. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., predicted on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that Gorsuch would not get the votes and called on President Trump to meet with Democrats and Republicans to "try to come up with a mainstream nominee." TWO KILLED IN LOUISIANA TORNADO

A mother and her daughter were killed in Louisiana Sunday morning when a tornado flipped their mobile home off its foundation. The National Weather Service said a twister with peak winds of 110 mph traveled nearly a mile on the ground in the Breaux Bridge community. Gov. John Bel Edwards put the state on “high alert” and urged people to keep their phones charged and to look out for weather alerts. KUSHNER MAKES SURPRISE TRIP TO IRAQ

Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and a senior White House adviser, made a surprise appearance in Iraq, a White House aide told Fox News late Sunday. Kushner was invited by the chariman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joe Dunford and reportedly wanted to see the Iraq situation for himself and pledge support for the Iraqi government. Details of his of trip were not immediately released. Trump had previously praised Kushner as someone who could produce peace in the Middle East.

It was a big night for Jason Aldean who was named entertainer of the year at the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas. Aldean performed early on with the other nominees, including Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood, at the opening of the show and closed the night strong with his major win. “Thank you fans for letting me do what I do every night,” he said at the end of the show. “Love you mom, fans, country radio, everybody -- thank you guys.”
