LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. – Authorities say deputies have fatally shot a Kentucky man after receiving a call that someone had used a car to push an off-road vehicle from an intersection.
Local media outlets report state police say 45-year-old Frederick Ratliff died after the shooting late Wednesday in Lawrenceburg, central Kentucky.
Trooper Bernis Napier says deputies were told Ratliff had become angry with two people riding utility task vehicles near his home before one of the vehicles was pushed from the road.
His statement added deputies went to Ratliff's home and that he began firing a gun at them. Napier says deputies returned fire, striking Ratliff.
The man was taken to a hospital where he died. No one else was hurt.
The names of the deputies involved have not been released.
