A 23-year-old inmate has been found dead in a Louisiana jail.

The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office says in a statement that the inmate's cellmate found him unresponsive at the Orleans Justice Center jail at 8 p.m. Wednesday, at which point medical and security staff "quickly responded" to give emergency treatment until EMS arrived. The inmate was pronounced dead at 8:15 p.m.

NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/2mpaZCE) the inmate who died Wednesday is the fourth inmate to die in custody of OSPO since September 2015, when inmates were moved from the old Orleans Parish Prison facility to the new, $145 million jail.

The OPSO says there were no physical signs of trauma or self-inflicted injury on the inmate. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
