The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office asking the public to help locate Nelson Soto-Lopez, 24, who is suspected of killing a 21-month-old Blaine, Minnesota, boy and taking a five-year-old girl.

On Tuesday at approximately 7:07 a.m., Blaine police officers were called to the Blaine Medical Center on a report of an unresponsive child. The officers and medical staff were unable to revive the child and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Soto-Lopez is being sought in connection with the death of the toddler. He was last seen at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday walking away from a residence in Arden Hills. He was wearing a black t-shirt and jeans.

Soto-Lopez is believed to have five-year-old Cristal Aguilar with him, whom he is neither the father nor relative of. Aguilar was last seen wearing a brown and black jacket with purple pants and brown shoes.

Authorities are concerned for Aguilar’s safety. They have information that suggests Soto-Lopez may be attempting to leave the Twin Cities metro area.
