BOISE, Idaho – An Idaho State Police trooper has been injured in a crash while escorting the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree.
Trooper Brandalyn Crapo was injured in the Highway 55 crash Sunday afternoon. She was taken to a hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Idaho State Police says Crapo had been leading a motorcade escorting the tree from Valley County to Boise when a pickup truck crossed the center line and struck her patrol car. The truck driver, a 49-year-old Boise man, was treated for injuries at the scene.
The 80-foot Englemann spruce was cut last week from the Payette National Forest near the town of McCall.
It will appear in Boise on Monday before it gets placed on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol in December.
