Rescuers found the girl without a pulse after the crash on the 110 Freeway Saturday evening, Fox 11 reported. The baby died at a nearby hospital, California Highway Patrol Officer Stephan Brandt said, without naming her.
The crash also wounded a 10-year-old girl and 48-year-old woman from La Crescenta, the news station added.
The suspect, 26-year-old Jared Silvestri of Pasadena, was speeding before crashing into a car that had veered toward the right shoulder, KABC reported.
Doctors treated Silvestri for a minor injury. He was being held on $2 million bail, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Both cars careened into a third vehicle, Fox 11 added. The driver of that vehicle wasn't hurt.
