Video shows horrifying moments of 2015 New Orleans airport machete attack

Lawmaker is calling for an FBI briefing on the investigation into the emails

New video shows the horrifying moments last year when a deranged man rampaged through a New Orleans Airport terminal with a machete.

WWL-TV reported Friday that the 32-second surveillance video shows 63-year-old Richard White as he’s stopped at a security checkpoint at New Orleans International Airport on March 20, 2015. He is seen spraying two Transportation Security Agency workers with wasp spray and then pulling out a machete as he rushes through the checkpoint.

A sheriff deputy stopped the attack when he shot White three times. He died in a hospital the next day after refusing medical treatment because of his religious beliefs.

White hid the bug spray and the machete in a bag that also contained six Molotov cocktails.

WWL reported that the New Orleans Advocate first aired the video.

The paper reported in a lengthy article Friday that the video was included in the investigative file of the incident that sheriff deputies turned over to the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office.

The Advocate found that the investigative file offers a meticulous account of an attack that easily could have become a massacre.
