A man who federal prosecutors say was an enforcer and drug dealer for a violent Atlantic City street gang led by his older brother has been sentenced to life in prison.

Malik Derry was convicted last year on drug conspiracy and weapons charges. The 25-year-old city man was sentenced Friday.

Prosecutors say Derry and his 36-year-old brother, Mykal, were members of the street gang known as "Dirty Block," ''Crime Fam," ''3.6.6.12" or "3.6." They say Mykal Derry directed the gang's drug distribution activities.

Authorities say the gang controlled heroin sales through gun violence, including at least one homicide. Ring members distributed heroin in and around several public housing complexes in Atlantic City.

Mykal Derry was convicted on the same charges as his brother and received a life sentence in January.
